Design Talks
The Danish Designs That Last Forever. vo.1 2021/09

The Danish design style is very concise and usually not upbeat. It combines traditional crafts with unique new ideas. Many classic design products can sell for decades, such as the wooden monkey toy that Jacob Jensen designed in 1951. This classic monkey toy comes in three different sizes and both arms and legs can move around as you like. People can make it to stand, sit, or hang on furniture. It is adorable and also one of the most famous Danish toys.

The Master of Light, Poul Henningsen, designed the famous PH5 drop light 50 years ago. PH5 has beautiful shapes and creates a very soft light that is suitable for a dining table. Today, this light is still very popular and people can see them above a lot of family dining tables. People can often find Arne Jacobsen’s design on the street of Copenhagen. Arne Jacobsen began working as an architect, but later on, he transferred his focus to furniture design and home product design. In 1953, he designed his most famous chair - the Ant Chair. To this day, the Ant Chair has inspired many other chair designs around the world. Information Provided by Danish Trade Organizations’ Taipei Office.
